TAKE ME BACK TO THE SWEET TIMES

"Take me back to the sweet times
The hot nights
Everything is gonna be alright
In the summertime
Baby in the summertime"

I miss the beach. I miss the very very hot sun and the very very cold water. It's the last day of February today and that means Summer '09-'10 is almost ending. Why '09-'10? Well it's because Summer starts around November here and ends around February/March.

The Mt. Maunganui outing kicked-off my Summer and even though it was just a day trip, I still had heaps of fun!

Jess, Steph, Lichelle, Dennis, and Danica

I didn't plan on swimming because 1.) I had no togs/swimsuit and 2.) I just wanted to laze around and chill. I even brought a book (The Man of My Dreams by Curtis Sittenfeld. Excellent read, btw.) with me then! But no, it seems as though fate had other plans for me that day.

Look closely at the photo and you can see that I'm wearing a black singlet paired with (though you can't see it there) white shorts. I planned on dipping my feet, walking around the water, and feeling the sand on my toes but someone *yesit'syoudennis* tackled me and pulled me until I was submerged in water. I managed to get up but I was soaking wet already so what the hell right? Might as well enjoy the water.

And enjoy I did.

I haven't gone to the beach in
years and I missed it so bad! We swam until around eight in the evening, I think? Went to Wendy's for dinner, and had so much fun on the car ride back home. Lichelle's car is the "Car of Truths" apparently, and that's when it all started. . . *blushes*

I feel as though this was ages ago instead of merely months ago! But yeah, looking at the photos did
"take me back to the sweet times".

Credits to
Lichelle for the photos!

The Price of Beauty

I confess.. the only thing I've ever done to groom my eyebrows was to have them shaved.

I know, I know. It’s wrong and it’s not good, but I’ve always had low tolerance for pain and shaving seemed like the only option then. As I grew older though (Okay fine, this happened last week), I realized that I need to grow some balls and treat my eyebrows with some respect.

I’m happy to report that my eyebrows are no longer virgins. They’ve experienced pain now, and survived! They’ve been plucked and groomed to perfection thanks to my friend Suzanne. Now shaving is a thing of the past!

It happened last Friday night, in my brightly lit bathroom. I tried to immerse myself in conversation with Suz to distract me from the pain. She even complimented me on my “nice eyebrows” (another trick to distract from the pain!) It worked. Well, sorta. I still winced and let out a couple of yelps from time to time, but hey, if this is the price of beauty, then so be it.

Now I feel like a transformed woman. I know look like a decent, civilized human being! I don’t look like a monkey anymore, said my mum and dad. (No offense to the monkeys. You guys are beautiful creatures in your own way!)

Note to self: Must stop staring at my eyebrows in the mirror!

THE WAY THEY WERE

My Grandmum and Grandpa.

They're my grandparents from my mother's side. Unfortunately, my grandmum died before I was born so I never got the chance to meet her. To be honest, it's the first time I've seen this photo too! I'm pretty sure she was an exceptional woman with fabulous style too! Women in our family sure knows how to dress well (Except for you, mum! Kidding! Sort of. Heh).b I have some of her stuff and they're pretty awesome! Some vintage bags, purses, accessories.

My grandpa looks dashing too! I absolutely adore this photo! I love the certain oldness to it, I love how my granparents look good together, and everything about it just screams loveliness! I found this photo at my uncle's facebook, by the way! Thank goodness for the digital age!

Cheers to grandmum and grandpa in heaven!
